If you have an industrial application that requires a small, rugged, and powerful electric mini industrial actuator, look no further. Our PA-09 Mini Industrial Actuator comes in a deceptively small package but it is powerful for its size. This actuator is designed to be tough with durable materials used to construct its body in a compact design that offers protection against harsh environmental conditions. With all these features, this mini linear actuator is an excellent choice for versatile, economical, and rugged drop-in solutions enough to provide a long and maintenance-free operational life. This article covers the specifications, and newly added hall effect feedback options for precision control, and applications that benefit from our PA-09 Mini Industrial Actuator.
Main Features of the PA-09

If there is one thing special about this mini industrial actuator, it would be its compact design of the housing that also keeps it safe from harsh environmental conditions. With an ingress protection rating of IP66, it means that it has excellent protection against ingress of dust particles, and it can withstand even a spray of water without any damage. It generates a high force of 330 lbs (static and dynamic), with capabilities for greater precision control through the positional feedback options with hall effect sensors. Below we have outlined the product details of the PA-09, which highlights its key characteristics, helping you decide whether it’s the actuator for you!
Physical Characteristics

As one of our models of industrial actuators, the PA-09 has been designed to be a robust device with a stroke rod made of stainless steel and a compact design made of 6062 aluminum alloy. Its stroke ranges from 2” to 40”, which can be customized if required. Its internal gears are made of high-strength polyformaldehyde material for ultra-quiet operation and a noise rating of < 45 dbA. Our PA-09 can also operate in an ambient temperature range from -25°C to 65°C.
Electrical Operations & Positional Feedback
The PA-09 Mini Linear Actuator is available off the shelf in either 12 VDC or 24 VDC options for their brushed DC motor. Its current ratings range from 1.5 A at no load (0.6 A for 24 VDC), to 4 A at full load (3 A for 24 VDC). Its connector is a 2-pin Molex Mini-Fit Jr with a cable length of 40” for the 2-wire operation. If you were looking for hall effect sensor feedback, the hall mini actuators can also be chosen as an off-the-shelf option if required – for this PA-09-HALL option, the wiring has a 6-pin Mini-Fit Jr connector. It also has built-in limit switches that safely shut itself off in case the shaft extends or retracts beyond the design limits. For alternative feedback options, custom orders are possible for units up to an 8” stroke to have a built-in potentiometer as a feedback device.
Mounting Brackets

The PA-09 mini industrial actuator can be mounted using the BRK-09, which is our mounting bracket specifically designed for this actuator. A pair of these lightweight strong brackets will easily let you mount this actuator within your application. The bracket can be installed on both ends of the compact actuator and can be rotated for a full 180°. Each bracket is sold separately from the actuator and includes all of the required pins for installation. The BRK-10 is also available for additional mounting support on the stroke housing.
Compatible Control Boxes

Progressive Automations offers compatible control boxes and other related equipment for your application ranging from an array of options, including wired or wireless control boxes. You also have a choice of a standard controller for actuators with 2 wire operation or models compatible with feedback options, depending on your requirements. You can also control multiple actuators from a single control box if you opt for two or more channels. The PA-09-HALL with its 6-pin connector and 24 VDC motors will specifically be compatible with the PA-40-24VDC, and PA-41, as well as the wired FLTCON control box series while the 12 VDC version is compatible with the PA-40.
Applications & Benefits of HALL Sensor Integration

Standard PA-09 models have been used for a wide range of applications over the years including Christmas décor automation, custom projects, and many more use cases in various industries! As a newly released option, the PA-09-HALL allows the ability to synchronize multiple actuators with the PA-40 control box which comes with wireless remotes. When multiple actuators are required to travel synchronously, we recommend actuators with hall effect sensors. This is because they have hall effect feedback that goes to a control box which would then be able to make the needed corrections if one side travels at a different speed from the other. Differing speeds can sometimes happen from slightly unequal weight distribution or the speed tolerance from the DC motors (+/- 10%) in the actuators. The team at 427Naja demonstrates this with their DIY automatic hood project using our electric hood actuators!
IN SUMMARY
The PA-09 offers high-force versatility in a durable and compact design for installation in tight space restrictions. If the stock PA-09 and PA-09-HALL do not meet your specific requirements, we also offer custom manufacturing options to bring you a closer match.
